Spring Update

I can’t believe the Spring Carnival has already gone for another year and it is almost XMAS again. It has certainly been a challenging year for us all!

We thought we would give you a brief update from the team.

We are excited to have relocated good Brisbane Jockey in Michael Murphy to our Rockhampton Stables. Michael kicked off with a bang riding 4 winners on Derby Day.

Ares Racing has had a pretty good run over the Spring and some of the key highlights that really stood out for us was Regal Reece Winning the Yeppoon Cup and qualifying for the Country Championships on December 5th at Doomben.  The emergence of Buffy and Srini have also been very exciting. They both look like potential stars for our stable. Look out for these two in the Winter Carnival in 2021.

Oct 22nd – Winning Treble  Buffy, Srini and Pulcheria

Oct 31st – Winning Treble – Regal Reece, Alsaurusfirst, Poetic Pete

Nov 6th – Winning Double  Buffy and Havannah Sunset

Nov 13th – Winning Double – Apparently Not and High I Cue

Nov 17th – Winning Double – Buffy and Srini

Horses Available

Oconee – 5% Share is $2200.

4YO Gelding by Sacred Falls, Ex – Chris Waller trained horse. He is still a maiden which gives us a great opportunity to go through the grades with him. We think he will go on to be a terrific 1400m to 2000m horse. Still untapped and only had 6 starts.  https://thoroughbredsales.com.au/listing/sacred-falls-x-dixie-express/

What a Thought – 5% Share is only $330

This 4YO Gelding returned to racing in great fashion on Sunday, with a great run first up. He is by Multiple Group One winner in So You Think and is a cracking type. He has only had six starts where he has been a trial winner and already won a maiden. Adrian has a great opinion of him.

 Defcon x Miss Lucy – 5% Share is $750

2YO QTIS Filly. Defcon himself was a very successful 2YO winning the Group 3 Black Opal and placing 2nd in the Group 2 Silver Slipper along with the Canonbury Stakes.

All the hard work has been done, broken in, Barrier Certificate and has had a barrier trial.
She is an early 2YO and looks to have a nice future.

Swear x Mariners Joy – 5% Share only $1100

2YO Chestnut Gelding. He has been broken in, gelded and pre- trained who is getting ready for his first campaign. He is cracking type at 15.3 hands and has the scope to run early and stay later. (Can be inspected in Rockhampton)

La Fortuna. (Sebring x Maldita) – 5% Share only $1100

2YO Filly by champion stallion Sebring, his service fee alone before he passed last year was $66000. He is known for throwing horses who sprint early and stay later. She is out of a Choisir mare (Maldita) who is a half-sister to a group 1 winner in Harry’s Son. The farm where she was from only let her go due to having to downsize because of COVID-19. They had to let go 16 horses to cut costs. She is a nice big filly, standing 15.3 hands.

Forza – 5% Share is only $250

5YO Bay Gelding by multiple Group One Winner in All Too Hard out of multiple Brisbane City Winner in Stepping. He has won races in Ipswich, Toowoomba and Beaudesert before Adrian brought him to Rockhampton in July 2020. He has just returned from a spell and is ready to step up in distance to his preferred range of 1600m.

Czechoslovakia – 5% Share $1495

Flashy Grey by Reliable Man. Started his career in NZ where placed 3rd in Listed Otago Guineas and place 4th only beaten 0.7 in the Group 2 Wellington Guineas. His owners moved the horse to Australia in 2018 where he was very competitive in Melbourne with T Busuttin. Then in 2020 they moved him to NSW to where he also won. Nice 1400M to 2000M Horse we bought for the Country Cups.
