It was another incredible four days for the team with five winners, which brought up eleven winners for August. To add to that some of our owners won significantly on the punt which is just the cherry on top.
Last Friday we saw Dream Lantern destroy his opposition in Ipswich. A good ride from Noel Callow had the big horse in a great position, and he powered away to win by 3.5 Lengths for team Hatch.
On Cairns Cup Day, Ship’s Ahoy won against the pattern of the day by leading all the way to win race 8 with Scott Sheargold. Coming off a very average run on Mackay Cup Day on the extremely hard track, the bookies opened him up at $26 – 1 for Cairns. With a much softer track, the owners launched in and backed him in from $26 to $14 to where two owners alone took $70,000 off the bookies.
Saturday night on her home track in Toowoomba Visual Element put in a tough performance to win over 2000m with Bubba Tilley on board. That makes it three wins now for Lindsay Hatch for this mare.
On Tuesday we were back in North Queensland with Home Hill hosting a Townsville Provincial tab meeting. Hats off to the Club volunteers for putting on such a great track on the day.
Para Park Chance could not have been more impressive winning the 1180m BM 55. He was taken on all the way in the lead, but Graham Kliese stole that race on the corner which saw him kick away to win.
Our super mare Baby Guinness did it again, winning the 1460m BM60 with Chris Whiteley. The win made it four wins in a row at this track for this mare. We purchased her as a baby from the Rockhampton Yearling Sales and she has now won six races for a good team of owners.
We look forward to the last day of Winter Racing on Saturday when we have a big bunch of runners with Team Hatch at Toowoomba and Mareeba.
